Pioneering dementia care from Vida Healthcare.

Vida Grange is Vida Healthcare’s second specialist dementia care home located in Pannal, Harrogate. We offer a range of care options, including residential dementia care, nursing dementia care, young onset dementia care, an all male house / environment as well as respite stays.

Vida Grange is a modern, 124 bed home, divided into eight specialist houses which cater for a range of care needs. Our houses are bright, modern and homely with a range of indoor and outdoor communal areas which allow residents to be as sociable or private as they wish. Each house has been carefully designed with the needs of people living with dementia in mind. It was developed based on the winning formula at Vida Hall which means you can expect the same outstanding level of care and comfort.  Every element of the home has been designed with our residents’ health and wellbeing in mind. The innovative layouts, specially selected décor and sensory features all help to reduce anxiety and improve wellbeing.

Each of our houses offers a safe, welcoming environment and aims to give residents a sense of wellbeing and belonging. In our residential houses the emphasis is on supporting people to live as independently as possible, providing opportunities for social activity and engagement. Our nursing houses offer additional support to residents who have physical health challenges in addition to their dementia diagnosis.

As part of our commitment to supporting the changing needs in our locality and within the home, Vida Grange offers accommodation to our residents who require an all-male environment. Harlow Carr house supports 18 gentlemen and is located on the ground floor. The house supports residents experiencing significant behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and other health challenges and is supported by skilled nurses and care staff.  Harlow Carr enables residents to experience a place of safety and belonging.

We are one of the few care homes in the Yorkshire region to provide a service to younger people living with dementia as well as an all male house.

Long term residential and nursing care

At Vida Grange, each of our residents receives care that is completely tailored to their needs and lifestyle, delivered by a highly-skilled, dedicated and compassionate team. Our care is ‘person-centred’, which means we take the time to get to know our residents and support them as individuals. By learning about family and friends, hobbies and interests, likes and dislikes, we can make meaningful connections, helping people to feel at home and at ease.

We are passionate about providing the most effective care. We do this by keeping up to date with the latest research and findings in dementia care, as well as drawing on the high level of expertise we have in house. A key part of our approach to care, involves championing the use of alternative therapies over anti psychotic medications wherever possible to help improve well-being. All Vida Healthcare staff receive ongoing training to ensure they have the specialist skills they need to provide effective, quality care through Vida Academy.

Respite care

We welcome respite stays at Vida Grange. They will follow a comprehensive assessment of needs to ensure the transition from home to the care home does not cause any undue distress to the client or their family. Please get in touch today for more information about this service.

Wellbeing & Life Enrichment

We know that giving people a sense of purpose and self-worth is vitally important to their wellbeing. Whilst we do have wellbeing facilities, it is en-grained in our staff that it is all of our responsibilities to help our residents live a joyful and fulfilled day. We are focused on maintaining the independence and dignity of our residents. That might be just helping someone make their own cup of tea, or promoting someone to do simple house tasks like washing up and setting the table. Sustaining those every day tasks that sometimes we take for granted.

At Vida Grange, there is a TV lounge, café kitchen, coffee shop, hair and barber salon and a selection of sitting areas which have been designed to provide a range of opportunities for socialising, taking part in activities or simply enjoying some quiet time. There are regular activities which residents can choose to take part in if they wish, including musical entertainment, exercise classes and arts & crafts. Residents are also encouraged and supported to pursue their own interests and hobbies. We are committed to supporting our residents to remain involved in community life. Many of our residents enjoy taking trips to the local parks, farms, gardens, cafes, library, local events, groups or places of worship.

Vida Grange holds residents meetings and family support groups on a monthly basis, all are welcome.

The app also acts as a lifeline to our families offering photographs and videos of their loved ones and a glimpse of life inside Vida.

“Family Team Talk has been a godsend for us as a family as we live down south and are able to see images of mum enjoying her days.” Family member, Vida Hall

Dining & Nutrition

Nutritious food plays a big role in keeping elderly and vulnerable people in good health. We understand that encouraging your residents to eat well can be challenging at times – that’s why we put so much effort into creating an extensive choice of nutritious meals and special diet options to ensure our residents not only receive the necessary nutrition but also enjoy mealtimes.

We do have set mealtimes at Vida Grange, however, residents can eat when and where they would like, be it in one of our dining areas or in the privacy of their own room.
