After leaving school I worked in the Elderly Care sector for over ten years in various roles ranging from Senior Carer to Health and Social Care NVQ Assessor.
My passion for Dementia Care became apparent to me from the get go; the lack of resources, research and appropriate placements at that time I found incomprehensible m.
During my time at university I took a community based route where I was able to source my own placements in primary and community care settings; district nursing, hospice care, palliative care, community matrons to name a few.
After qualifying from university as a trained nurse I went on to further train to be a Practice Nurse and earned a triangulated role between Leeds West CCG which I loved. It gave me a huge range of experience/knowledge planning and provide nursing care, treatment and health education to patients of all ages working with many different disciplines/specialities.
I came to Vida in 2014 initially as a night nurse. I had missed the continuing care and person centred approach that often lacks in primary care. It was so refreshing to step foot into Vida Hall and instantly feel like I belonged. To see the leaps that had been taken in specialist dementia care was overwhelming yet inspiring.
My proudest moment….
My proudest moment during my time at Vida was receiving the extra mile award in december and I have recently stepped into the role of Senior Nurse.
I couldn’t ask for a more supportive team from all areas alike. I cannot speak highly enough of our teams; the work they do and the core values we all share. I feel privileged to be part of the team and the real difference that we all strive towards for the well-being of our residents.
