Vida Healthcare’s Managing Director – James Rycroft – has been awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Social Care’ Award at the Regional Finals of this year’s Great British Care Awards.
This special award, selected by a panel of industry experts, was presented to James in recognition of his long-term contribution to excellence and innovation in dementia care, as well as his commitment to sharing best practice across the sector.
In response to the award, James said: “I’m incredibly flattered and honoured to have received such a meaningful award. I’m accepting it on behalf of the whole team at Vida, who have worked so hard to help create such a unique, special service – I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved together.”
James established Vida Healthcare in 2013 with his father, Chris Rycroft, to address the lack of specialist care services for people living with dementia in the Yorkshire region. With the guidance and expertise of Healthcare Director, Bernadette Mossman, the team set about to challenge perceptions and practices in dementia care, and offer a truly person-centred service to residents and families.
With a focus on emotional wellbeing, James has been responsible for overseeing the design and development of Vida Healthcare’s homes, combining innovative design and state-of-the-art facilities with a homely environment.
Bernadette commented: “Right from the start James’ focus has been on providing the best care possible in the right environment. He’s involved with all aspects of the home and always looks for ways to improve the service. It’s fantastic that the judges have recognised his passion and dedication to great care.”
The National Finals of the Great British Care Awards take place in Birmingham, in March 2018.
