FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
There are three care homes in the Vida Family, all located in Harrogate. Vida Hall is in Starbeck, Vida Grange is in Pannal and Vida Court is in Harlow Carr.
We have 20 specialist dementia care houses across the three care homes. Each house has a similar look and feel but offers a different level of care and support – from residential through to nursing – and staff have received specialist training appropriate to the home they work in through our very own Vida Academy. Should care needs change over time, our residents do not have to experience the upheaval of moving to a completely different care home. Our team of experts will assess and help guide you to the best house suited for your loved one.
Vida Healthcare homes accept private paying residents along with those who require funding from the CHC and Local Authorities.

We encourage visits around mealtimes and to avoid bedtime. However, we understand this doesn’t work for everyone. Therefore, the home is open 24/7 for families to visit their loved one.
We understand how difficult it can be at the start of the dementia journey. That’s why Vida Healthcare will help support and guide you through this process.
Our team of experts will work with you and your loved one to create a tailored care package throughout their journey with Vida. This will result in choosing what house is best suited for them.
Here at Vida we offer residential and nursing dementia care. We have a dedicated house offering young onset dementia care and another house that offers Huntington’s Disease care.
We also offer end-of-life care and will be with you supporting and guiding you throughout the journey.
Residential care is a non nurse led environment supported by highly skilled team leaders. Residents tend to not require clinical oversight but still receive oversight from a GP and district nurses should they require that for both physical and mental health.
Some people may be advanced in their journey with dementia but this does not mean they require nursing care, in fact, residential care may be the best care for them.
Nursing care is predominantly when a person’s needs require clinical monitoring. This may include mental and physical needs that are long term conditions that may require oversight by a registered nurse. When a resident lives with complex needs and complex health issues, for example, diabetes and not necessarily dementia, they may require nursing care. Continuous clinical monitoring and oversight for the complex conditions is required.
Effective communication with families is essential, which is why we have developed our own in house app called Family Team Talk. The app offers a digital platform and news feed for families to keep up to date with Vida communications. The app also acts as a lifeline to our families offering photographs and videos of their loved ones and a glimpse of life inside Vida.
“Family Team Talk has been a godsend for us as a family as we live down south and are able to see images of mum enjoying her days.” Family member, Vida Hall
